Job Purpose:
The HR Manager for Nortech Systems Africa is charged with developing and executing human resources strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with South African employment regulations, driving Employment Equity (EE) and BBBEE commitments, and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing workforce. The HR Manager will support transformative initiatives, talent management, and organisational development that underpin Nortech’s regional success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR & Transformation Planning:
- Develop and execute HR strategies and policies that support Nortech Systems Africa’s regional business objectives.
- Lead EE and BBBEE initiatives to ensure strategic milestones and compliance targets are achieved.
- Facilitate workforce planning aligned with market trends and regional growth priorities.
EE & BBBEE Compliance & Reporting:
- Manage all aspects of EE legislative compliance, including workforce audits and submissions.
- Compile, analyse, and submit annual BBBEE scorecards, ensuring adherence to BBBEE codes and policies.
- Oversee all statutory reporting and liaise with relevant authorities to maintain compliance.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment process to attract high-quality candidates that align with company values and diversity targets.
- Develop innovative sourcing strategies to reach a wide talent pool, including leveraging digital platforms, industry networks, and partnerships.
- Design and implement onboarding programs that foster engagement, inclusion, and retention from day one.
- Collaborate with business leaders to forecast talent needs and plan recruitment cycles accordingly
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture across the African operations.
- Manage employee relations, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace conflict resolution.
- Initiate employee engagement programs to promote motivation and retention.
Learning & Development:
- Assess skills gaps and coordinate applicable training programs.
- Promote continuous professional development to support individual and organizational growth.
- Compile the annual training report and workplace skills plan for submission to the labour department.
- Internship opportunities and learnership programs with the labour department.
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Oversee competitive compensation structures compliant with local laws.
- Manage employee benefits and reward systems to attract and retain talent.
- Compile and submit monthly benefit schedules to the relevant pension/provident funds and submission of payment to the accounts department timeously.
- Administration of members pension/provident fund claims.
- Administration of maternity/disability claims.
- Management of employees leave as well as leave accruals for the accounting records.
- Compile and submit monthly employees tax schedules to the relevant authorities and submission of payment to the accounts department timeously.
HR Operations & Systems:
- Maintain accurate HR records in compliance with regional legislation.
- Ensure HR data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support HR technological systems and streamline HR processes.
- Compilation of reports for the financial year end audit process.
- Quarterly management reports.
Diversity & Transformation Initiatives:
- Drive initiatives to advance workplace diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.
- Monitor progress against EE and BBBEE targets, produce reports, and address gaps proactively.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (Postgraduate qualification preferred).
- At least 7-10 years’ HR experience, with proven expertise in South African employment law, EE, and BBBEE.
- Previous managerial/leadership role within an African or South African organization.
- Deep understanding of EE legislative requirements, BBBEE codes, and IR processes.
- Demonstrated success in implementing transformation strategies, managing HR systems, and driving compliance.
