The core function is to manage the Nortech supply chain and relevant Inventory levels efficiently to achieve the company’s financial and sales targets by continuously improving inventory stock turn cycles.
Functions of the Job
Reporting to the Operations Director, the purpose will be achieved through the following functions:
- Managing, directing, and coordinating the relevant activities of all personnel engaged in stock control, purchasing of components and raw material, goods receiving and planning of production in line with company policy and procedures to achieve set targets and objectives.
- Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Analyzes sales demand forecasts and supplier lead-time conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepares monthly stock/usage/price analysis reports.
- Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations/pricing that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service in accordance with the company’s procurement policies.
- Oversees the preparation and issuing of purchase orders and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensuring procedural correctness of all stock issue/receipt transactions and disposal of surplus/obsolete materials.
- Ensure quarterly cycle counts are conducted and processed on all inventory line items as per SYSPRO system, and in line with company procedures.
- Ensure the correct classification of all inventory items on Syspro, according to annual usage.
- Implementation and maintenance of “POURS” policy for relevant Inventory items and classification status.
- Ensure production lines are supplied with complete stock kits to ensure planning and delivery schedules are achieved.
- Efficient scheduling and planning of production to maximise use of capacity and resources, working in harmony with Sales and Engineering departments where necessary.
Inbound and Outbound logistics function for both local and international.
Requirements of the Candidate
The Candidate must:
- Have Grade 12
- Degree in Supply Chain / Materials Management (e.g., CPIM)
- At least 3 years of experience in Inventory control / Supply chain role
- Computer literate and proficient in MS Office. (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Motivated, energetic, confident, and goal-oriented
- Honest and reliable with a commitment to good corporate governance and confidentiality.
- Able to speak English with good written and verbal communication skills
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Have good time management skills
- Have the ability to multitask
- Have the ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
Desirable Work Experience
It would be advantageous if the candidate:
- Had previous Inventory/Supply chain supervisory/management experience
- Had extensive Inventory and Material Management experience
- Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and own transport
- Working knowledge and experience using an ERP, MRP system, preferably SYSPRO
- Experience in Electronics manufacturing industry
- Knowledge and experience of computerized materials logistics and storage systems

Structure
The Materials Manager will report directly to the Operations Director.
His / her interpersonal roles within the organisation will be:
- To provide overall Inventory and stock control support to the Operations management team.
- To manage the staff and activities related to goods receiving, stores, production planning, procurement and logistics departments.
- To analyze and communicate monthly stock requirement constraints in line with sales forecasts and supplier delivery commitments.

The candidate appointed to this position will be expected to:

- Communicate effectively with the Operations Director regarding priorities and scheduling of tasks.
