The Systems Business Development Executive is responsible for driving the growth and market share of Nortech’s integrated systems solutions, specifically in People Counting (HeadCount) and Parking Guidance Systems (IdentiPark). This position requires a strategic sales mindset, technical understanding, and the ability to promote innovative solutions within targeted markets.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br />
<strong>Business Development &amp; Sales:</strong></p>
<p>Prospect and generate new leads for both People Counting and Parking Guidance systems.<br />
Engage with architects, engineers, property developers, and clients to present product offerings and technical solutions.<br />
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms at management levels.<br />
Prepare, submit, and follow up on proposals, tenders, and quotations aligned with company margin targets.<br />
Conduct market research for new developments, technological trends, and competitors.<br />
Plan and attend trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote Nortech’s system solutions.<br />
Maintain and update the sales pipeline and CRM systems.<br />
Forecast sales, project costs, and develop annual budgets in collaboration with the Brand Manager.<br />
Coordinate with operational teams for project execution, site surveys, and installation oversight.<br />
Follow up post-installation to ensure customer satisfaction and promote after-sales service plans.</p>
<p><strong>Technical Activities:</strong></p>
<p>Read and interpret construction and technical drawings.<br />
Facilitate site assessments for sensors, inductive loops, and system layout.<br />
Liaise with architects, engineers, and installers for system design and implementation.<br />
Calculate project-specific costs, including consumables and system components.</p>
<p><strong>Market &amp; Product Strategy:</strong></p>
<p>Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and market opportunities.<br />
Recommend new product features and development based on market feedback.<br />
Collaborate with the Brand Manager to develop product positioning and marketing strategies.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Skills:</strong></p>
<p>Proven track record of 5+ years in technical sales, preferably in intelligent system solutions, parking management, or people counting systems.<br />
Experience in international markets and working with diverse clientele.<br />
Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to understand and discuss complex system specifications and drawings.<br />
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.<br />
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.<br />
Willingness and ability to travel at least 55 days per year.<br />

<p class="p2">The immediate line of responsibility is to the Hardware Development Manager.</p>
<p class="p3"><strong>PURPOSE OF THE JOB</strong></p>
<p class="p4">This post involves the research and development of new products for all of the four business units of Nortech, namely, Traffic, Parking, HeadCount and Identipark. The job will involve developing products from initial concept through to a fully qualified, robust prototype using sound engineering principles.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>All products developed will be competing in international markets and, therefore, need to be of the highest quality standard. Interfacing with the Nortech production facility will be required to facilitate prototype builds, product testing and final handover of the prototypes for Industrialisation.</p>
<p class="p3"><strong>QUALIFICATION &amp; KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED</strong></p>
<ul class="ul1">
<li class="li1">Minimum BSc Degree in Electronic Engineering</li>
<li class="li1">3 to 4 years working experience in an electronics manufacturing environment</li>
<li class="li1">Solid Hardware (electronics) experience in Analogue and Digital Design. This involves Schematic and PCB design.</li>
<li class="li1">Solid Firmware development experience with Embedded Systems and C.</li>
<li class="li1">Experience in Compliance Testing for Certifications of Product.</li>
<li class="li1">Ability to write or modify PC Based Software in Visual Software Suites.</li>
<li class="li1">Ability to plan a project accurately given a complete specification.</li>
<li class="li1">CPLD, FPGA Design experience would be a plus</li>
<li class="li1">DSP experience would be a plus.</li>
<li class="li1">Ability to impart knowledge of product and train Industrial Engineering, Engineering Services, Test and Repairs Departments at handover.</li>
<li class="li1">Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with departments within the company.</li>

<p class="p7"><strong>THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE:</strong></p>

<li class="li1">Design of electronic products from concept, technology research, full technical product specification, design of schematic and PCB using Altium Designer, design of firmware &#8211; right through to a fully qualified, robust prototype.</li>
<li class="li1">Walking the product through the production facility during the first-off prototype builds.</li>
<li class="li1">Full spectrum bench-testing and verification, environmental verification and Electromagnetic Compliance verification.</li>
<li class="li1">Liaising with the Industrial Engineering Department to get the product fully industrialised.</li>
<li class="li1">Training of Engineering Services and Test and Repairs Departments to be able to support the final product.</li>
<li class="li1">Product Documentation on Specifications, Manuals, Changes etc.</li>
<li class="li1">Firmware Development for Microcontrollers – generally done in C.</li>
<li class="li1">Occasional PC Software development for testing purposes &#8211; these will generally be done in C / C++ / Visual Basic /Java/TCL.</li>
<li class="li1">Liaising with the Software developers to integrate components into complete systems.</li>
<li class="li1">Designing with DSP’s, ARM Processors, 8051 based Micro’s, PICs, Motorola Micros and FPGA’s.</li>
